Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
Alright, the preliminary Colonization plugin is up and functional, I'm not going to explain everything here (there will be a wiki page once I have a bit more of the informative commands and such done..) but here are the basic commands you need to protect your land.
/col create [colonyname] -- creates a new colony of the specified name
/col claim [outpostName] -- claims an outpost, each outpost claims a spherical radius of 120 blocks around it, protecting it from everyone who is not in your colony. NOTE: You only start with the ability to claim ONE outpost, so choose wisely.
/col list -- lists every colony on the server with basic information on each.
/col invite [player] -- invites a player to join your colony.
/col join [colonyname] -- joins a colony if they have invited you.
/col ally [colonyName] -- allies the specified colony, NOTE: unlike in factions, alliances are only one way, you can ally a colony without them allying you back, this will stop you from doing damage to them, but won't stop them from hurting you.
/col unally [colonyName] -- unallies specified colony
/col msg [message] -- sends a message to all members of your colony, and only said members.
/col desc [description] -- sets colony description
/col leave -- makes you leave whatever colony you are in.
/col kick [playername] -- kicks specified player from your colony.
/col members [colonyName] -- displays all of the members of the specified colony (blank = your own colony) along with their respective ranks.
/col unclaim [outpostName] -- unclaims the specified outpost.
/col outpost list -- lists all outposts belonging to your clan.
/col rank --displays your rank in the colony
/col rank default [rankName] -- sets the colony's default rank players get when they first join
/col rank create [rankName] -- creates a new rank of the specified name
/col rank mod [rankname] [property] [true/false] -- sets permissions the specified rank has, properties are: useAbilities, accessSoftProtect, accessHardProtect, accessCapHardProtect, accessCapSoftProtect, canKick, canInvite, canPromote, canMailAll, canClaim, canManage, canRecommend, autoPromote, canSetAllies, reqQuests, reqRecs, reqPlayTime
/col rank view [rankName] -- displays information about the specified rank
/col rank promote [player] [rankName] -- promotes/demotes the specified player to the specified rank.
/col rank list -- displays a list of all of your colony's ranks.
Note that while the rank commands do work, I am not providing full instructions on their exact functionings at this time so use at your own risk (or ask me about them elsewhere and I may help you figure out some basic stuff..)
I will update this post as more stuff goes online until the wiki page is done.

Friendly fire should now be disabled between members of the same colony and allied colonies.
Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
I'm getting an error when I try to use the /col members Kinrei and Only that colony. Canadia is showing up fine.

Also Kanada13 discovered that friendly fire is not in fact on and is too lazy to inform you.

ranged weapons may have friendly fire, but melee weapons should not.
Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed

Is there an unclaim feature? Or do we just remove the emerald block?

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
well first if you have a claim that emerald block is indestructable, second, there is no unclaim feature right now but if everyone leaves the clan (or is kicked from it) the plugin will auto-unclaim your outposts (unclaiming will come sometime very soon)
EDIT: Looks like dynmap was eating through all our disk space and preventing colony save files from being written, removed that, we'll see if it is all fixed now.

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
About to throw up another colonization update, this time we have quests and a nifty new tool to help you figure out where your borders are without walking in and out a ton.
Right clicking with a feather should now display whose territory the clicked on block is in and whether or not you can build there.
As for quests, two commands may gain relevance for you soon
/col quest list -- lists all quests
/col quest desc [QuestName] -- displays the description of the specified quest.
/col quest complete [questName] --Completes a quest of the given quest name, assuming you have met all the goals of it.
Couple of things then, I have not rigged up an automated system to swap out quests yet, it is my intention to do so over the next few days so that there are always a couple of quests in rotation for people to do.
Second, the vast majority of quests are offered to more people than just yourself, this isn't World of Warcraft, if someone completes a quest it is complete, it is done, it does not exist anymore, nobody else can go complete it. Rewards vary per quest, some give experience for colonies (because I'm sure you all want to level up your colonies for more stuff, note that if you are not in a colony and you see an experience reward you get nothing for this), some may give spells/abilities, others may give unique items, others valuable treasure.

If only you had added that feather tool a few days ago...

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
Autogeneration of quests complete, from this point forward there will always be at least 3 quests active at any given time. Note that quests are shared between all colonies, if one colony completes a quest no other can do so.
Right now autogenerated quests are limited to various "kill x mob" missions with experience rewards. In the future this will be expanded to other things, but for now i'm moving on to working on war between colonies.

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
Uh I tried to complete a quest but it says I'm not in a colony?
I think Kinrei is messed up because I'm getting all sorts of errors only to do with that clan.

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
yeah multiple reports that colonies may have broken (specifically I think the connection between players and colonies has broken due to a few errors with loading data earlier...) I will be attempting to fix this shortly.
EDIT: Apparently a lot of the data was actually corrupted so I've been forced to reset colonies, please accept the emerald blocks that once marked your outposts as my apology for this need.

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
So I see that the quests are there, but I'm having trouble completing them. Are they supposed to auto-complete or do I need to do /col quest complete [questname]? Either way, it doesn't seem to work.

Re: Colonization - aka how to not have all your land griefed
Fixed, right now you have to use the /col quest complete [questName] command, there will be automation for mob slaying quests as well as a few other types in the near future, but right now I'm focusing on enabling war between colonies and getting all the temples up and ready.
O and I also added a progress display to /col quest list so that you aren't left wondering if the quest is working or not
